Losing weight

“How did you lose so much weight?”

Let’s face it — there is no “miracle drug” or “quick fix” to losing weight.  If there were, obesity would not be so prevalent.  Of course, this doesn’t stop people from wanting instant results.  Why do they keep trying fad diets or take drastic measures? Well, sometimes they do lose weight.  For. A. Short. Time.  Then the weight comes back as soon as they are “off” the diet and it’s an endless cycle.

“How did you lose so much weight?”

If you lose the weight only by eating healthier and exercising, you can still gain it all back.  Why? You could revert to your old habits, if you don’t deal with the issues of why you gained the weight in the first place.

How did I lose so much weight?

The short answer is: Weight Watchers and exercise.  Naturally, there’s much much more to it.  Mindful eating. Regular workouts. Balance.  Support. Accountability. Something as simple as….journaling.

Journaling provides clarity.  Writing down feelings – good or bad – helps hone in on why you gained weight in the first place.  This helps you acknowledge the problem and that’s the first step in trying to change, right?

Journaling is cheap self-therapy.  You can write inspirational quotes you hear about.  You can write what’s bugging you, what you do to relieve stress, what you could’ve done differently, etc.  It helps you see any self destructive or sabotage patterns as well as what works.  The main thing is that it helps you deal with your issues.  Dealing with issues makes the difference between keeping it off and gaining it back.

Losing weight is a journey and how the journey transcends is all up to us.
